The DPA has survived many moves of meeting place in the eighty-four years of its existence.   A bit of history.   In 1926 the DPA met at 77 Queen Anne Street but as there was no provision for a darkroom the next year a move was made to Pilmuir Hall until outbreak of war in 1939 when the Hall was requisitioned for military purposes.
!945, DPA formed an association with the Naturalists Society and shared premises in Abbott House.   In 1965 the first retoration of Abbott House was undertaken and we moved to a condemned house at 156 Chalmers Street where we removed the wall between the two rooms to form a meeting hall and also had a kitchen/darkroom.
This house became due for demolition and in 1967 we obtained rooms in Bruce Street Hall with once again a kitchen/darkroom.  Up to this time we enjoyed 24/7 access to the premises and were sole occupants.   In 1975 Bruce Street Hall was burnt.   We moved to the Music Centre at Carnegie Hall for a short time before obtaining accommodation in Dell Farquarson Centre, first in the small hall upstairs, unfortunately without wheelchair access, and as now the main hall.   The club with stood these changes and went from strength to strength.

Ran out of space.  To continue.   My first club in Fife was the Rosyth & District Camera Club which met in the church hall, I joined in the early or mid fifties.  I then joined DPA in 1956 but continued membership at Rosyth for a time.  The Rosyth club folded in 1964 and a few members joined DPA.   This is just to illustrate that there has been a club in Rosyth.
It saddens me that DPA is about to meet outwith the city boundaries but we have a largely new faction in the club with fresh ideas which I must bow to.  There is a danger that a move of this distance will embrace a different catchment area so we can expect to lose a few mambers and gain a few.
A question or two:
How secure is our tenure?  RCSC has a regular turn over of management and a new administration could make changes.   The duration of the contract is not mentioned in the minutes but I note there is a termination clause which could put us out after a month's notice.
Have the members who do not have internet/ email access been informed?

These two posts of mine do not indicate that I am against the proposal to move premises, nor do they indicate that I am entirely in favour, take them as information.   My days of active photography are coming to an end, my cameras are now gathering dust.   However I still enjoy my meetings at the club and hope to continue to do so for some time yet.
