Japanese Garden at Cowden – Cowden Garden – 19th October 2024

Trip Team

Gillian Temple, Ken Goodfellow, David Lockwood, Val McManus, Bob Brownlie, Elizabeth & Ian Monk

The trip was made a day earlier than planned to avoid Storm Ashley and although the necessary last minute change prevented a   few from making the trip, those who did certainly enjoyed the opportunity to see these beautiful gardens and autumn colour. The last time we visited the Pagoda was still under construction and the Café closed.

They are now fully functional with an informative video in the Pagoda, an inside outside space next to the Cafe. The spectacular colours on show around the gardens and the calm water and reflections of the trees in the lake were interesting and well worth capturing.

We made use of their picnic area to enjoy soup from the Café before heading off to the adjacent Woodland Walk along side one of the many river Devon tributaries. The Park itself featured a kids play area with some tree stumps being renovated as fairy houses.   A popular area with one even presenting a "for sale" sign.
